International Federation of Translators -IFT-
AGIT is a member of the International Federation of Translators -IFT-, with headquarters in Switzerland. IFT was founded in 1953 in Paris by Pierre-Francios Caillé. It is a non-governmental organization, recognized by UNESCO. It brings together the main associations of translators and interpreters around the globe. Conclusions and recommendations of their world seminars have been endorsed by the United Nations Organization.
Therefore, AGIT is an active member of FIT-LATAM (IFT-Latin America) and keeps a close relationship with Latin American associations.
American Association of Literary Translators (ALTA) & American Translators Association (ATA)
AGIT is in constant communication with the American Translators Association -ATA-, the largest association of interpreters and translators in the United States of America, the American Association of Literary Translators -ALTA- and the University of Arizona. It is worth mentioning that AGIT keeps abreast of all activities that member associations of IFT have around the world.
Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua -ANLE-
In 2012, AGIT and the Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua -ANLE- sign a convention that establishes the cooperation bases between both organizations. ANLE, founded in 1973, is one of the 22 academies of the Spanish Language on three continents, which mission is to help disseminate and promote the correct use of the Spanish language in the United States. It has been officially recognized as the maximum authority in matters of Spanish by the US government.
